Title: Talking cat...

Just read David's journal entry of April 29th about Apollo trying to say hello :-)
Faffie does something much like it, though it never occured to me that he was trying to say hello (hallo in Dutch). He has this habit of starting to meow when he is alone in a room and then he keeps meowing louder and louder and doesn't stop untill I answer him. I really never waited long enough to see after how long a time he would stop out of himself, because he keeps meowing louder and longer untill it sounds so horrible that either I'm worried about him or either I get annoyed by the sound and go to pick him up and say something like 'don't act like an idiot'. But he stops when I ask him (in Dutch of course) 'What is it with you?" a few times in a loud voice, or when I try to imitate him by saying "MMMEEEHHH-VRRROOOWWW". Last time he was meowing like this it occurred to me that his sound sounded much like the dutch word for Mrs. , i.e. "Mevrouw" :-)

Another kind of meowing he does, that I find kind a cute: when he is asleep in the other room sometimes he wakes up with a startle meowing softly and looking around while staying curled up and then he also keeps meowing untill I come and hug him. Then he always starts to purr. I'm not sure whether he starts meowing after he wakes up, or that he maybe dreams and meows in his sleep and wakes up because of that. But it's just like he is startled from something (in his dreams?) and calls for me :-)
