Things do change. I used to tie my sleeping bag onto the "stingray" handlbars of my bicycle and ride 7 miles out of town to go camping with my buddies every weekend and of course, we never thought twice about the distance. I don't plan on doing anything like that anytime soon.
The peculiarity seems to be with our boredom levels. She can become bored pretty quickly with things that fascinate me, and I can become bored pretty quickly with things that endlessly fascinate her! John
I can remember having boundless energy as a kid and running around on all the rids at fairs and the beach, and my grandfather not having the same amount of energy. Things change and we become the grandparents. ;)
I hope to have the new equipment soon, just hope it works!

Ha! I kept checking the cams and thought it was unusual that I was never seeing at least one of the furkids on the couch! It never occurred to me that it was the same picture every day!
We did go to the Fair yesterday. It was probably cooler because it was cloudy all day, which I very much appreciated. Even if it had been the same though, it wouldn't have been as hot as working on the stage. At one point it did pour down rain on us but by the time the rain hit we found a place inside to sit and eat while we waited it out. It had begun to sprinkle on us while we were over at the "kiddie" rides.
The Fair involves literally miles of walking around. By the time we left, the wife and I were beat but of course, the 4 year old had energy to spare. I had to promise her that we'd be back Sunday when I had to work there again. She got to ride the kiddie rides, painted a rock, and the highlight of her day was petting the goats at the petting zoo. In the Conservation building she saw snakes, turtles, fish of all kinds, and in one large aquarium were some of the larger fish from the Lake Of The Ozarks. Contrary to popular stories there's nothing in the lake that could swallow a man, but there are plenty of catfish in it that could swallow your leg. Those were a little frightening to her and she wasn't interested in watching them very long. Catfish are not particularly attractive animals and at least a couple of them were actually bigger than her, so I could kind of see how she felt about it. John
I hope it cools off some for you! Today here it is about 80f out! WHat a relief, Friday we went to 105!
You may have noticed the cams are not updating.... Equipment died Saturday night and I am waiting for the replacement to get back up. Oh well.
We started playing the State Fair yesterday. It was 3 abbreviated shows in 12 hours. Happily, we didn't have to set up and tear down between shows. It was all on the same stage. The same hot, muggy, steamy, airless stage. Also happily, I live about 10 minutes from the fairgrounds. I got home around 1:00 AM and was more than ready for a shower. This weekend I'm in Kansas City 2 nights and back to the Fair. The Fair pays well. Kansas City does not. Of course, Kansas City pays immediately. The Fair does not. It'll probably be a month or so before I get paid for it.
I got into the Fair free but I still spent $20 on tea, a root beer float, and one slice of pizza, and $11 on a toy for the 4 year old. Today, the wife and her grandkids want to go. I tried to get them to go yesterday when I could have gotten them in free but noooo. I'd have had plenty of time with them. One break between shows was 3 hours long and I really didn't know what to do with myself. Today it's supposed to rain. That should be interesting. John
