I'm guessing the 10 year old will be OK, or they'd have flown him to Columbia. The judge, I'm not sure he'd want to. John
I feel bad for the child and older couple. I hope the child and judge pull through. :/
Yesterday morning, after I posted here, I found out who 2 of the older people were in the Wendy's crash. A 10 year old boy was badly injured but treated at the hospital here in town. The older couple were in their 80s. The wife was killed and the husband was so seriously injured he was flown to a larger hospital in Columbia Missouri. The older man was a judge. I had met him and his wife at a meeting of the local historical society last Fall, just before the weather got bad.
It just makes my head spin, that after 80 some odd years of life, a decision like which table to sit at at Wendy's, would lead to the end of one life and the ruin of another. As I've often said, every day, the world makes a little less sense. John
I haven't checked any news yet this morning but the last I heard was that it might have been driving while intoxicated, or it might have been because he had coughing fits, (or sneezing fits, depending on the source) that cause him to pass out. Either way, I guess it doesn't have anything to do with a protest.
The guinea pig is doing fine. He eats a lot more than I would have guessed, especially hay. I still worry about him getting enough sunlight. The window is on the north side so of course, the light he does get is indirect. If the weather ever cools down, I can move him into the living room, but right now it's been in the 90s every day, so the air conditioner is blowing about all the time. John
Makes you wonder if it is related to the protest and that Wendy's incident. Glad you were not in there.
The bank account hemorrhages pretty quickly when you're not working at all. Working half the time slows the hemorrhaging considerably, but doesn't stop it completely. Still, I can go like this for a while, and I'm just having a hard time complaining about the time off.
Yesterday afternoon, Cheri and I decided to go out to eat. Wendy's had just reopened their dining room after about 4 months, but I just wasn't in the mood, so we went to Perkins, which is just across the street from Wendy's. When we got there, there were fire trucks and police cars all over the place, and a big, bright red pickup truck was sticking out of the front of Wendy's. Tragically, one person was killed and 5 injured, 2 seriously. The police aren't yet speculating on what caused the accident, but the driver is being charged with driving while intoxicated. Just don't know whether that had anything to do with it, but no other cars were involved, even though he had to cross 3 oncoming lanes of traffic to get there. It happened about 6:00 and we didn't miss it by much. If it had happened one day earlier, no one would have been in there. C'est la vie, I guess. John
