We went to Florida in 2019 but Cheri doesn't really care much for it so I promised this year we would go to Branson Missouri, figuring every other year we'd trade off, but this year, things happened and we didn't have time to go. So, next year I owe her a Branson trip. Cheri refuses to stay in a tent, which would make a week long Florida trip much cheaper, but I kind of get it. A week is a long time in a tent. I did visit the Titanic museum in Branson and no, they didn't really have a lot, but the highlight for me, was that they had one of the original deck chairs, which have become so famous for pointlessly rearranging. It had been fished out of the Atlantic and kept in a barn in Canada for years before it was rediscovered.
The virus mandates are insanely complicated here, in that each county has its own rules and each city enforces them to a different degree. Even the various businesses enforce the rules to varying degrees. Just in Sedalia, some restaurants are drive-through only. Other restaurants require a mask and others don't require one at all, even though the city has mandated masks everywhere. The general expectation is, if you're standing, you need a mask. When you're sitting, you don't. The bars in Sedalia largely ignore any mask requirements. Some cities mandate 25% capacity for bars and restaurants, so they can't afford to pay us. Some schools are open and others are not. All the kids have to wear masks, except at lunch. Granddaughter Karly, 7 years old now and still going to school, was tested for the virus just a couple of days ago and doesn't have it, and since she lives with us 5 days out of 7, that's at least an indication that none of us do.
3 out of 5 people in the band have now had the virus. One is sick at the moment and can't go anywhere. One has never been sick but he's in the Air Force and the Air Force has mandated that they can't visit bars at all, so he's out for an indefinite period. I had what seemed to be a common cold last March, so if I've had it at all, it was then. The result of all this is of course, that bookings often get canceled, and I never know who I'm working with from one job to the next. Our next booking in about 2 weeks, we'll be down to a 3 piece band, but some weeks we may be 4 or 5. What it will be like as a 3 piece, remains to be seen. Right now, just about everything remains to be seen. John
John - after all these years I still keep with Kansas City news and thought of you immediately when I saw the bars closing at 10pm. I use to do the Relay for Life for cancer every years for many years and would camp out with my team in a tent like that. Lots of fun, but too hard on the ol' bones of mine. LOL Peggy

Hi Peggy good to hear something from you I really enjoyed my little vacation only about 30 miles from Knoxville. The only mandate in Knoxville is masks I only go to work and grocery shop on my way home from work when I am not on vacation. I have had grey hair for quite a while now but at least I still have hair. Hope you have a nice thanksging too I will just be spending mine at home with the cats. Take Care Tim
Hey John I will be going back to tents probably in may or june not sure when yet just will be a short 2 or 3 day stay but it was nice to go somewhere I like the beach went Myrtle Beach in 1985 was the last time I went will go hiking in the Smokies and to Gatlinburg some too or maybe to Nascar speedpark in Pigeon Forge and drive the gokarts. I went to the Titanic museum in Pigeon Forge last year it was ok but not what I expected but I got in free as a veteran. Chattanooga is just over 100 miles south of Knoxville but I haven't been there for awhile there is a nice aquarium maybe someday I will go.I hope you are able to get some work soon. Tim
Whoa, I couldn't believe that bed! In a tent! A tent with a shower and toilet! I've never been to the Smokies. I think Chattanooga is as far east in Tennessee as I've ever been, and I've never been to either of the Carolinas. I do have a nice tent, though I haven't taken it anywhere in years. I did set it up in the yard just to make sure I remembered how!
Peggy, Kansas City, which is where I work most often, has closed down all the bars at 10:00 every night. So, I have no more work this month and only 2 nights in December. I shouldn't be too bad off this year, depending on how much longer this thing lasts! It really makes it hard to plan anything when you don't know how long these mandates will last. John
Hi Tim! Now that's a tent I could "rough it" in! I've pretty much stopped blogging altogether as after 13 years I'm burned out. Maybe I'll do one more post before the year is up. Lots of new restrictions implimented effective here today in Chi-Town. Only go out to grocery shop and get hair cut every four weeks. David, you wouldn't recognize me anymore. Stopped coloring my hair and have my pretty grey hair back.
Hoping you all have a Happy Thanksgiving! I will be going to my sister's where it will just be three of us.
Stay safe and healthy! Peggy
