*sigh* Still waiting on the new roof, there is a hold up on some of the rods (don't rmember the proper name). And now that furnace / boiler , there is a pressure valve that comes out the furnace top and then the valve and it goes down to the floor (stupid since we have NO drain there) and I saw it has wet the floor the other day. So I cut a water bottle enough to fit under it and put that in an old litter pan and found it is leaking/releasing about 1/5 gallon every 12 hours. I need to get that fixed now but all the plumbers/heater people are all backed up! grrrrrr.

How is everyone else?

Hi David and John Sorry you are having so much trouble with your home repairs David I am doing pretty good But I noticed Claire going in the litter box yesterday straining and just a drop of urine out of the box and right back in same results so straight to the vet we go blood work and everything was pretty normal for a 12 and half year old cat took her back today and they were able to get a urine sample but won't know results till saturday First vet said kidney disease another vet saw her today says just possibly cystitis. She has gotten fluids and appetite stimulant and antibiotic. Saw the Beach Boys last night they were even better than when I saw them in 2018 How is Cheri ? John hope she is still feeling pretty good. 1 of the vets at the practice where I take the cats lives with dates  my cousin and told me she has cancer now and doing chemo but caught early but in lymph nodes. But that is about all the news from Knoxville. Tim

Doing OK here.  I've been on my roof and looked around.  It seems OK unless there's a heavy snow, in which case I need to climb a ladder and shovel the snow off.  Otherwise, when it melts, rather than draining off, it backs up and comes in.  I've noticed too that there are already 3 or 4 layers of shingles up there, which will all have to be stripped off before I can re-roof it.  Cheri's son is a professional roofer, so that's at least covered if we ever need to do it.

Our furnace is gas.  We had an insanely expensive one put in 4 or 5 years ago.  Where I used to live was all electric.  I had no idea what to do with a gas furnace and that's not the kind of thing I want to experiment with, so I had it installed.  To my surprise, they ran a plastic tube through the house that drains water to where my washing machine drains.  Every once in a while I can hear water trickling through it, and this proves conclusively, that I have absolutely no idea how it works.

I finished reading a book last night called the "Meowmorphosis" by Coleridge Cook.  Based on the title and the cover, (a kitten in a business suit) I figured it might be a lighter, more whimsical takeoff of Franz Kafka's dark and depressing book, "The Metamorphosis".  It is not!  In fact, it's even darker and more depressing, because this book follows as closely as possible Franz Kafka's original, except that the protagonist changes into a kitten rather than a cockroach, which just serves to make this version all the more tragic.  I don't know whether you've read Kafka's "Metamorphosis", but I really recommend you don't read this.  John
