How is everyone doing?

How is the weather where you are? It has warmed up some here again and we are back in the mid to upper 40's and will be in the 50's tomorrow and for the next 5 days at least. I am still shocked I did not use a coat all winter thus far. Yeah, it was cold enough many times, but I just did not take it out of the closet.GUess I am glad my car did not break down and I had to walk!

My neighbors went on a vacation Maech 1st and I drove them to the airport. They flew out of Belgrade (opps, they did rename it to Bozeman Yellowston International). Wow, the Bozeman airport has changed! I was last there in 2001 I think and and many times before back to 1986. It used to be a single log building and then began to grow some. I remember it being 4 gates. It is huge now. Not an O'hare, but HUGE and has a 3 story parking garage and tons of lots! I decided to drive into Bozeman after to go to Macy's and I was shocked as I approached Bozeman. Buildings as far as I could see! WAY WAY too much traffic. Abandoned buildings, graffiti.... ICK! I know Bozeman is the fastest gowing city in Montana and in the top % of the US, but WOW. THey expect Bozeman to be Montana's largest city within 20 years now. And I am so sick of stupid modern claims to get business. I went into a coffee shop and the sign actually boasted "Plant Based Coffee"! Really? I should have asked them where I could by the animal based coffee! And I also bought a banana by the sign boasting "Plant Based" above them. *rolls eyes*

In the end I bought little there and was so upset at the influx of people. I do not think I"ll go back to Bozeman if I can avoid it. No wonder they now call it Boz Angeles.

Perseus was on the couch this morning at 9:21 Montana time.

Plant based coffee?  Plant based bananas?  Could be somebody's wild sense of humor.  (I once posted that the band was gluten free.)  I once tried "Veggie-burgers" and they were so nasty I gave the rest of the box away.  They tasted like mushroom sandwiches and that absolutely will not work for me.  Burger King's "impossible" burgers were acceptable but I won't go there because the people who work there, are not.

This has been the most up-and-down weather I can ever remember.  70s one day, snow and single digits the next, then 70s,then snow and cold again, over and over.  70s today and by next week, snow again.

The band has been on vacation for 2 weeks while the drummer went to Florida, and I really needed it.  The drummer left right before the war started and before gasoline took the huge jump.  Because we're not working, I've only used about an eighth of a tank of gasoline in the last 2 weeks.  That all changes this week.  Back to work and today, the grandson has to be taken to Jefferson City.  Next week Cheri goes to Columbia for surgery.  Everything is riding on that day and I'm pretty terrified.

I'm still keeping up with the chess.  It keeps my brain occupied, even if only for short periods of time.  I'm playing more in Lichess now so there are a bunch of games built up there.  Still playing lower levels because I want my brain occupied but I don't need it stressed out any more than it is.

Careful with that driving around without a coat.  I always dress as though I might have to walk, which has happened often enough over the years.  I always keep a blanket in the car in the winter, just in case.  With your insanely cold weather, any problem could be a major problem.  John

Thanks everybody.  This is the first place I come every morning.  It's a good place to organize my thoughts for the day.  I try not to overwhelm anybody with big, long, negative posts but of course, with Cheri so sick, this has been one long, worrisome year.  Cheri's surgery is 8 days away, and the best of 3 possible outcomes is a long, long recovery.

Tim, I despise a thief.  I do as little electronic exchange as possible and these days, that's getting increasingly difficult.  It's impossible to get by with none at all.  A credit card is a necessity now, but I don't even have a bank card.  I used to like Wal-Mart but it's changed a lot the last few years.  These days it's hard to find a live checker there, it's more like a big, impersonal warehouse than it used to be, and it used to be open 24 hours which since the Covid hit, it's not anymore.  It's hard to get away from completely but I may only end up there 2 or 3 times a year.  I was flipping through my pictures yesterday and came across one you put up of Shailene.  They're all so beautiful and all so hard to lose.

Peggy, I really look forward to the day I can say nothing exciting is going on.  The government is burying me under tons of mail and taking back a big chunk of my Social Security.  My taxes are an insane mess this year.  The band is getting increasingly busy and I really could use a break but I also need that money.  Cheri of course, is a major worry that makes all the rest of it harder to deal with and I'm pretty worn out.

Through it all, the work is still there, which I don't necessarily want right now but I do need.  I've also got a perfectly happy and healthy cat and guinea pig, a pretty decent grandson and a granddaughter I adore, (though I'm not related to either of them).  Cheri has been a rock through all this, (if a little more grouchy lately) and she's still going non-stop, shopping and taking care of the house, paying the bills and fighting her own battles with the government.  She does amaze me.

Thanks again everybody, for helping me through this.  John

Hi John,

How are you and Cheri managing? I have been keeping you both in my morning prayers.
