Van Gogh is not the most affectionate cat i've ever known.  If I walk by her, she's as liable to take a slap at me as not.  Or I can be petting her and she'll suddenly bite at me.  It's just a playful bite, not trying to take a chunk out of me, but just enough to make me stop.  At night though, that's something different.

When I go to bed, no matter what time it is, I'll either find her at the foot of my bed, or I won't find her at all.  As soon as I lay down though, In just a minute or so, no matter where she comes from, she'll curl up right in front of my face and snuggle up next to me.  Sometimes she'll have a paw on my face or my chest.  Often she'll try to lick my nose.  (I'd really rather she wouldn't do that.)  Sometimes she'll lay there for just a few minutes and get up.  Sometimes she'll lay there till I go to sleep.  She's never there when I wake up.

It used to be that she would only do this during colder weather, but for a long time now, she does it every night.  It can be a 100 degree day, (like the last couple of days) and it doesn't matter anymore.  She's there in my face, every night.  I think it's the best part of every day.  John

Laugh! Enjoy the face licks while you have them! Andromeda was big on that with me in bed. I miss it now, though at the time it drove me nuts, ;)

I can't help but smile when she licks my nose but I still pull back.  Then she'll start licking my hand.  Took a while to get used to that too, but now she can lick it all she wants.  Even if she's not in my face when I wake up, as often as not, she'll be down by my knees or feet.

It does remind me of a very long time ago with Poof.  I woke up on my back, to this weird sound, like somebody walking across a sticky floor.  I opened my eyes and there was Poof sitting on my chest, happily chomping away at the end of my beard.  I tried so hard not to laugh but I couldn't help it.  Of course, the laughing made her quit and climb down.  I'll ever forget that.  John

Andie used to lick my hair and chomp on it too (head, no beard) and she and Nova always came to the sheets end where I was and wanted me to lift it for them so they could come in the bed. :)

Van Gogh does not like to be covered up.  But she will squeeze in between the pillows during the day.  John
