Yeah, I've got quite a few car shopping horror stories. We'll usually wait till the lots are closed so nobody will come out and bother us. Of course, now the thing is to not put the prices on the cars. They come out and ask you how much you can spend and if you tell them, of course the cheapest car on the lot will be that price. We started test driving cars at one lot that has the non-negotiable prices on the windshields, but they were all at the extreme end of what we wanted to pay so...still looking.
The water pump is out on my car. I just replaced it about a year ago and it was $400. Can't even guess what it'll be this time. Until I get it fixed we've been using the grandson's car, (which we recently gave him). That's what prompted Cheri to want another car. She's the chief shopper in the house and she goes somewhere every day.
Once in a while we'll run across stuff like those iPod knockoffs and stuff like that ends up going to the grandkids. John
