Cheri finally bought a new car yesterday.  A 2006 Toyota Scion.  Old as it is, it only had about 100,000 miles on it.  Kind of a weird looking thing in a maroon color.  (I haven't transferred pictures on the computer yet.)  Cheri does a lot of in-town driving and I mostly drive out of town.  Now the HHR will get a little rest.

Day before yesterday I had to get a new door handle put on the HHR.  They're cheap and easily break.  $240! A couple of weeks ago I had to put a new $230 battery in it.  Now we buy a new car, double our insurance, pay the tax on it, and so far I've paid cash for everything.  And that, is why I have to keep working.

Cheri spent hours online car shopping and at least now, she won't have to keep asking me if I think a car is "cute".  Cheri does like things that are a little weird, which explains the HHR, the Scion and me.  John

How many miles are on the HHR? My suv has about 138k on it now. My Olds (I had before the new Murano in 2012) had something like 170k if I remember right. I would have kept that one but the engine had big issues and would require a rebuild or new engine and so I opted for a new suv then. Mostly because I needed to move things (room) and it was AWD and that was needed out here.

The HHR has about 180,000 miles on it now, which means I put on about 100,000 of them.  We've had it to Florida twice, Illinois countless times, to Kansas City and the Lake countless times.  It's been a workhorse.  Only problem is, I've had to change the water pump twice at about $400 each time.  I try to encourage Cheri to pick things I can haul my equipment in, although I rarely have to.  My stuff stays in the band trailer.  I can just barely squeeze everything in the HHR, and I might be able to in the Scion.  The Scion has 107,000 miles.  Cheri puts as many miles on a car in town as I do out of town.  John
