"Santa Claus" played last night.  I didn't do it at all last year.  Of course, I wasn't playing at all around last Christmas.  Everybody was pestering me to do it this year though.  I play a couple of hours "normally", then on the second break I go outside and get dressed.  It's surprisingly hard to do by yourself and with no mirror.  Cheri was afraid she might not make the whole night so she didn't come.  And it was cold!  Cold and damp.  Inside the suit makes it extra hot, especially with 2 pairs of pants on.  So, Santa Claus played the last 2 sets.

Santa Claus is not about to help tear down, so at the end of the night I went back outside to change.  I left the second pair of pants on but I changed back into my shirt.  It was like putting on a block of ice.  I spent the last hour or so packing up equipment in a denim shirt, red, fur trimmed pants and black, rubber boots.

Nobody wanted to play around Christmas so I'm off till New Year's Eve, so no more Santa Claus this year, (aside from his regular job on Christmas Eve).

I shudder to think what things may be like this time next year.  There's just no way of knowing.  So this might have been Santa's last appearance on stage.  I'm probably not doing it again without help.  John

Always fun to see you like that though!

Bet the smiles on faces makes it worth it?

I was surprised at the pressure I was getting to do it.  Otherwise, I hadn't made up my mind to.  It's so cold getting dressed outside and I don't dare try getting dressed on those filthy rest room floors.  Better to do it in the mud!  Then it's so hot inside.  One thing I learned the hard way, take everything out of your pants pockets before you get dressed because afterward, it's too late!

The smiles and the cheers do make it easier.  Men never tell me what they want for Christmas but the ladies usually tell me they want boyfriends.  This year though, was different.  This year, it was a house.  Not that they're homeless, but that they're sick of high rent.  Kind of took me by surprise.

I've had a beard since I was in my 20s, simply because I was tired of shaving.  I kept it just a couple of inches though because I thought any longer looked stupid.  But Cheri told me she wanted it longer so I stopped cutting it back.  Not exactly white or silver, it's changed from black to a very light brown, and it has grown pretty long.  I don't make the toys, (though sometimes I have to put them together) and I don't employ any elves, but I do buy the stuff, wrap it and put it out.  For all intents and purposes, I really am Santa Claus.  Santa
