Hands

David, I was wondering how your hands are doing.  A friend of mine had that problem where you can't lay your hand flat and had it operated on recently.  They warned him that it wasn't plastic surgery and that it wouldn't look so great, and immediately after the surgery it did indeed look pretty rough, like Frankenstein had sewn his hand together.  It may not look so bad in time.

I finally did something yesterday that I hadn't done in 46 years.  I bought another guitar.  Well, that's not quite true, in that 46 years I've bought 2 12 string guitars but I never made a nickel with them.  In 46 years I'd played my old Les Paul half to death and had it all over the country.  I wanted another type though that had certain advantages over the Les Paul, one of them being that it was a lot lighter.  It's a Gibson SG and Gibsons are really pricey but it should pay for itself in about a month.

This week I'm actually off, but next week I work twice as much.  Last night I was about half way to Kansas City, in a place we play about once a month.

Yesterday was fairly hot, 89 degrees.  Tonight it's kind of chilly.  Tonight 39 and tomorrow 60.  Not Montana weather but great weather for getting sick.  John

My trigger finger I wont have operated on because it has a high probability of putting dupensons in that hand. THe other hand with the dupensons, my index finger won't straighten at all and when it gets really bad and is curled back in I"ll consider the surgery, which does nothing more than remove the strands at the time and they will grow back and likely more aggressively. Because fo that I'll wait till I really am unable to do anything with the hand before I get the surgery to clear the dupensons.

It is falling to the upper 20's to mid 30's here at night, but today will be 75 high, then 74 tomorrow, 71 Wednesday and then 48 thursday, then back to 60 saturday. I should be happy with the "warmer" temps daytime since this time of year we could as easily have snow.

I looked up what I think it is and for reasons I can't even begin to guess, it's sometimes called "Viking's Disease".  Have you been through the steroid or collagenase injections yet?  Or is that viable for you?

Yesterday was Cheri and my anniversary, (12 years) and we went out to dinner.  Today she wanted me to take her down to the Lake Of The Ozarks  Was a little cool, about 60, and a lot of the tourist traps down there are already closed for the season.  She spent maybe 45 minutes clothes shopping while I mostly just waited in the car, bought fudge and cookies, then we ate buffet.  By the time we got back, we'd been gone maybe 6 and a half hours.  It's a long and boring drive and she slept through a good chunk of it.  John

I have had one steriod shot for the trigger finger about 2 months ago. It worked great for the locking and pain quickly, but faded over 2 weeks and the swollen tendon is as large as it was before. I get a second injection next week.

Happy anniversery! I hope it was a nice dinner, even if the drive and shopping were boring. :)

For our anniversary we went to a place called "Colton's".  I don't know whether they have Colton's in your area or not.  It's not the most expensive place in town, but probably the best.  For the day after, she wanted to go to the lake.  There's a favorite place she always goes to get fudge.  (I don't really care for fudge.)  Then 2 dress stores, Marshall's and Ross's.  Next a favorite place to get cookies, a trip to a leather shop, (where we never buy anything) and finally a buffet.  $10 for all you can eat and it's really good but an hour and a half away, so it's only the second time we'd ever been there.

We've been together for 14 years and married for 12, although we'd been loosely acquainted for probably 20 years.  She'd always said she never wanted a musician.  (You know their reputation.)  And she'd always insisted she never knew whether I was any good or not.  Took her a while to realize I didn't fit the stereotypical mold of "sex, drugs and rock and roll".  (Just the rock and roll part.)  I've often told Cheri she could have done a lot better, but she could have done a lot worse.  John
