Taylor was here this evening for supper.  I went back inside and got stomped at chess by the computer...again!  (Last night was a draw.)  Then about 11:30 PM I rolled the garbage out to the street.  I expected to see Taylor again as usual, but I didn't.  As I turned to go back to the house, I saw a deer 30 or 40 feet north of me, bounding through the yard, headed west.  Almost didn't see him in the dark but you couldn't miss that white tail.  He could only go so far west before there was a tall, wooden fence, so he had to turn south to get past it.  Wish I could have seen him longer but he quickly disappeared in the dark and went behind Taylor's lean-to.  Everybody's asleep now and I can't wait till tomorrow to tell them.  John

We've got a new friend visiting, a gray and white cat with a collar.  I first saw him or her a few blocks north but the last couple of days it's been hanging around here.  Taylor showed up yesterday but I haven't seen her at all today.

Last night I sat out on the porch.  Just across the street is a line of trees and brush and a street light.  As I sat there, I saw something across the road running west.  Silhouetted against the brush and the street light, I couldn't tell what it was for sure and thought it might be a possum.  A few seconds later I saw another animal running the same direction.  This time I could just make out it was a racoon.  I guess it's time for the animals to come out.  John

Warmth will bring the wildlife out.

Have you seen Taylor yet?

Warmth probably does bring out the wildlife and of course, it sometimes brings me to sit out on the porch where I'm more likely to see it.  I think I even saw a bat under the street light, though I couldn't be sure.

Taylor got fed twice today, including tonight about midnight, even though there was a light rain.  John

Are you just sitting on the porch stoop, or do you have some nice chairs to relax on?

I remember growing up in seeing bats flittering under the street lights where the bugs were.

On the front porch we have a glider facing the street.  It faces south so it's a nice place to watch the light show from approaching storms.  On the north side where I feed Taylor is a nice rocking chair and table.  Lately I've been watching Taylor eat from there.  I know there are bats around but it's a rare enough treat to see them.  John
