I have 8 bird feeders up around the house, all where Angel can watch. 4 of them are caged ones so just smaller birds can get in to eat. 1 platform feeder as well. I get many types of finches, cow birds, mourning doves, pigeons and red-winged black birds. It is funny, the open feeders empty in a day or 2 at most, then the bigger birds sit on the ground and wait for the smaller finches to get in the caged feeders and spill seeds. I may buy a niger seed net feeder and see which can who likes those seeds.

Angel likes to dive at the window where I have a window feeder. One finch has learned she cannot get to her and no longer panics and flys away. THen that happens Angel looks sad and just sits there and then wanders off.

There are a lot of birds around and aside from the obvious, (cardinals, bluejays, robins) I have no idea what they are.  Years ago I bought an odd assortment of seeds and hung it from a tree for the birds.  The next year I had all kinds of weird plants growing under the tree.  What they get now is whatever food I throw in the yard, molded or soured bread, stale chips, etc.  I've found they're just as happy with the cat food if Taylor doesn't eat it all.

When Angel is frustrated by her bird friend's visits, do you think she might be in the mood for playtime?  John

NOt always. When she jumps at the window a couple times and he does not fly off, she will either watch him a bit or race to a new window. If I am playing with her she often adandons the play for a bird at the window.

I can imagine what's going through Angel's mind, but I can't imagine what's going through the bird's mind.  I thought maybe when the bird flew off, Angel might be in the mood to attack something, but maybe not.

My new routine is to go out every night around midnight to visit Taylor, who always seems to be hiding under one of the cars.  I give her another can of food and sit there about 10 minutes while she eats.  She still won't let me get too close to her.  Maybe 4 or 5 feet.  John

Oddly she often ignores the birds on the ground out the back door (attached). Go figure.

With Taylor, more the can 4 inches closer to where you sit each day. Back when ^CopyCat^ was on the deck, that was what I did and he eventually accepted me being 6 inches away while he ate, though if I made a move he bolted.

Tonight's midnight feast was called on account of rain, though I made sure she had food.  I sat out with her though at about 9:00 after dark.  I could see a large bird land on an electric pole on the north end of the yard.  I could only see it in silhouette so I couldn't tell exactly what it was, but it started screaming and wouldn't stop.  I was worried about Taylor, (it was a big bird) but she stayed mostly under the car, just coming out for a few bites and ducking back under the car.  She does that anyway, so I'm not sure it was because of the screaming bird.  I think it made me more nervous than Taylor.  Had a most unusual scream.  Wish I knew what it was.  John
