96 here today.  Cheri wanted to go on vacation in June, hoping it wouldn't be as hot as July or August and of course, it'll be near 100 the whole time.

I didn't see Taylor when I left today but I fed her when I got back, about 2:30 AM.  I played 80 miles away, a long and boring drive up, and a long and boring drive back.  I was getting punchy by the time I got home.  Fed Taylor, piggy and Van Gogh and finally sat down.  Now I'm beat.  John

The cool is worse here now that the south and east is taking our heat. Our high yesterday was 58. Today's high will be 48!! We do not get back into the 80's for a week.

Do you drive to the gigs alone or do you all go together in the van?

It's so weird that it's so cool where you are and so hot here.  I guess we're looking at record highs, that are sure to lead to storms in a few days.  I worry about leaving the furkids alone.  I don't like leaving the air conditioner on while we're gone in case it malfunctions and catches fire.  I worry about the ceiling fan for the same reason.  Van Gogh would be fine but I don't know about Piggy.  If it's in the 90s outside I suppose it could get over 100 inside.

I used to ride in the truck that pulls the trailer but no matter where we go, I have to drive 15 miles out of the way, switch vehicles, switch again when we get back and drive the other 15 miles back.  Paul has also decided he likes to be where we're going 2 and a half hours before we play, which means I'd have an extra hour to just sit there and wait.  So, I drive myself now.  Last night was so far away I was going to hitch a ride with my bass player but he was bringing his wife so he had a carful.  So, as usual, I drove myself.

Being much farther north than usual, we got extra good pay.  Only a couple of people up there had ever heard of us.  The owner figured everybody up there was probably down on the Lake, and it was awfully hot to get out, so we had a tiny crowd, which makes for a hard night.  Even so, the owner liked us and to my shock, hired us back for September and December, the only 2 dates we still had open.  Made no sense to me but I'll take the money.  John

Boy was it cool yeaterday, last night and this morning. High of 46 yesterday and it went below 32f last night and was 34 when I woke. Brrrrr. House fell to 50 so I had to use the heat last night. I wonder if this confuses all the animals.

Do you have a window air conditioner or central?

Hope the extra long drive was a good pay. :)

It's crazy how much different our weather is.  It's been in the 90s here with over 70% humidity.  Good rainforest weather after all the rain we had.

We just have a window air conditioner, although it's a monstrous one.

We did make extra money for going so far, which makes it all the more amazing that we got hired back.
