Cheri and I have been married 13 years today.

We got married outdoors which was a little risky this time in October.  It can be sizzling hot or a blizzard.  The weather turned out perfect.  We got married in a city park.  You crossed a bridge over part of a lagoon onto an island, then walked down to where the island came to a point under a long trellis and got married there on the little peninsula.  Then we walked back to a shelter where we had the reception, where they had guitar shaped wedding cakes.  We did have a band but Cheri was very adamant that I not be playing, so my band and a few friends played, which was fine with me.  Afterward, we drove off to honeymoon in the resort town of Eureka Springs Arkansas.

My bass player's anniversary was just a couple days ago, which was why I didn't play last weekend.

With the kids here there wasn't much we could do out of the ordinary, so I took everybody out to dinner at an overpriced but very good restaurant.  After that, I drove us all out to the park where we were married.

Once at the park, I had to laugh.  They'd completely drained the lagoon to clean it, pulling out shopping carts, stolen bicycles and whatever other junk had ended up in it.  They do this every few years, and today was one of those times.  The bridge was fenced off, so we couldn't visit the island.  We were all pretty stuffed and I don't think Cheri would have felt much like walking an arched bridge anyway.  Tonight, our plans include watching television and...that's about it.

Cheri and I first met about 100 years ago, give or take a few decades.  We finally got together about 15 years ago, then married 2 years later.  As I've told her countless times, she could have done a lot better, but she could have done a lot worse.  John

Happy Anniversary!

Did you buy a nice cake or something like flowers for home?

Where does time flow to? How come the older we get the faster is flows away?

Happy Anniversary, John and Cheri! I do remember when you got married and I remember seeing pictures. I don't know if they were posted here many many years ago or if they were on Icepick.com. Wishing you many more years of happiness and love  Peggy

I didn't get flowers or a cake or anything.  I thought dinner and a visit to where we got married would be kind of special.  The place was a wreck.  The lagoon was a lot deeper than I figured it was, and it was bone dry.  Not so much as a mud puddle.  They do it every few years but this was the first time I'd ever seen it dried out.  The actual spot where we got married hadn't changed at all.  Just where the lagoon surrounding it looked so different!

Time really does seem so flexible.  In a way it seems so long ago, but on the other hand, has it really been 13 years already?

Thank you Peggy!  Half the couple was beautiful anyway.

The long, wooden archway led from the bridge to the end of a peninsula on the island where the wedding took place.  The bouquet Cheri was holding, (not real flowers) has been sitting on our dresser for the last 13 years.  You can't really see the lagoon from the picture but it was all around us.  We were maybe 30 feet from it.  John
