May 1st was Poof's birthday. When I got her, she was so tiny she reminded me of that little puff of smoke you saw when the road runner led the coyote off a cliff, hence the name.
We never knew Poof's exact birthday but she must have been about a month old when we got her, so we guessed it to be around May 1st. It's hard to imagine that now, it would have been 41 years ago.
I lost Poof in 2000, at 15. She started it all. All the dozens of cats I adopted and loved after, all the ones I lost and grieved over, and all the friends I've made all over the world, including everybody here.
I'll never forget Poof, never stop loving her, never stop missing her, and I'll never stop being grateful to her for everything. John
