I was driving to town yesterday afternoon, and a meadow lark flew up and landed on the highway not far in front of me. I had to swerve to miss it at 80MPH and as I did he flew away. WHy would a meadow lark land on a highway? Hmm.

I see that a lot and I wonder why.  (I'm not usually going 80.)  Maybe they spot a bug or a seed I can't see.  John

I have never seena meadow lark do that. Crows and revens, sure and the occisional vulture.
