Van Gogh has always been a little afraid of the grandson's dog. Not much bigger than Van Gogh, he chases and barks at her. During part of the day when the grandson is at work, the dog roams the house. If he's locked in his room, he barks endlessly until the grandson gets back, which drives Cheri crazy so, she lets him out, and during that time, the cat stays in the bedroom. Not an ideal situation, at least it worked.
Well, her ex, (actually a pretty nice guy) underwent surgery over in Indiana, so her son and grandson went to visit for a few days. That led to complications. The son has an enormous mastiff dog. He left the dog with a lady who immediately let the dog loose to roam the neighborhood. Cheri saw a lady complaining about it on Facebook and quickly went to pick him up and explain what happened. Suddenly, we had one giant dog and one smaller dog in the house. The giant dog is incredibly sweet natured, and the smaller dog harrassed him endlessly. All the time, Van Gogh cowered in the bedroom. This was set to last 3 or 4 days, at least, and that just wasn't going to work.
Cheri's son occasionally took his dog to a friend's house to visit, so Cheri had the brilliant idea to ask the friend to watch his dog until he got back. Thankfully he did. Suddenly, things got much quieter. The big dog, (named Buddy) does little more than lay around. Van Gogh is still a little leery of coming out of the bedroom, (he really is huge) but Buddy pays no attention to her, which is an enormous relief. I hope Van Gogh is relieved as well. John
