The day that the Declaration of Independence was adopted and signed (many people erronously believe that was the date we won the war but the winning of the war was a ways off still). 

Every 4th of July (or within a day or 2 of) I watch 1776.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! Mother nature has not been kind to Chicago with all of the violent storms we have been having. Lots of fireworks and events have had to be canceled. I have no plans for today. Just to stay inside to stay cool and dry. Peggy

There have been storms all around me and somehow, we've not had any storms at all.  Hot though, oh yeah it's hot.  Expecting rain about 1:30.  Whether it'll storm or not, I couldn't tell.

I could have put on a show today, but I refused.  (much as I needed the money)  It's just as well.  I knew it would be outdoors, scorching hot, and I'd be drenched in sweat, and feel beat to death when it was over.  Today anyway, I won't have to go through that.  John

Happy 4th to each of you...we are indeed fortunate to celebrate what happened 250 years ago !!

Very warm here, no rain yet...maybe later.
