According to the maps, groundhogs do extend into your area.  I know they must be very rare here, probably where you are too.  John

Glad he is back! I do not think we have ground hogs where I live. Prairie dogs yes.

My groundhog is back!  I hadn't seen him for at least 3 years!  There's an empty house just east of me.  The owners keep it mowed and cleaned up, but there's a big brush pile just east of that where I saw him before.  Yesterday on the way home, I saw him in the yard and he took off running into the brush pile where he'd apparently lived before.

I don't know whether he was gone all this time or whether I just never saw him, but I can't imagine that.  I read that they have a kind of nasty disposition but the last time I saw him, I vividly remember him playing with a group of rabbits.  He was running at them, then away from them, and doing somersaults, as they jumped over each other.  That has to be a pretty rare sight, if anybody's ever seen it before.  Glad to see he's back.  John
