Auroras

It's 37 degrees, (not too bad) and I've been running in and out of the house every hour or so, looking for the auroras.  They almost never get this far south, but they're supposed to tonight.  So far, at about 2:30 AM, I still haven't seen a thing.  There is some light pollution from the city, all to the north of me, but I should still be able to see something.  Not yet though.  I'll make my last check a little after 3:00.

I'd only seen auroras once in my life, maybe 30 years ago.  I was coming home from working in Kansas City and several of us were in the car.  We stopped beside the highway to get a good look.  It was a faint green and nothing just too spectacular, but something I've never seen before or since.  John

Last night here was supposed to be full aroras (in the app we were in the red zone), but of course it was cloudy.

Down here, they were supposed to be visible near the northern horizon, which might account for why I never saw anything.  The main part of town is directly north of me with some light pollution, but I really thought I might see something.  Last time I checked outside it was about 3:30 AM.  I could see some stars north of me, but nothing else.  John

Too bad. I am not sure if we are expecting more from the flares.
