The local movie theater has decided to show a bunch of classic Christmas movies for free.  This weekend they're playing "Elf" and "A Christmas Story".  So tonight, we took the kids to see whichever one they wanted.  I'd have preferred "A Christmas Story", but Seth really wanted to see "Elf", so we all acquiesced.  We'd all seen it before of course, on television, but it really does seem different on a big screen.

I have to work tomorrow night but Sunday, I might, just might, take them to see "A Christmas Story".  Not sure how the kids might relate to that but remembering when I was a kid, they sure nailed the way a kid thinks.

Next week they're showing "Polar Express" and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation".  Of course, having seen both, I just didn't care about "Polar Express", and I've seen "Christmas Vacation" often enough to not be worried about it.

Free was great, but then I try to bear in mind, we spent $30 on candy, popcorn and soda.  I wouldn't want to do that too often.  John

"Elf" was geared toward a younger crowd but there were a lot of funny moments.  Bob Newhart as Elf's Dad was the high point of the movie.  John
