Lately I've noticed Taylor coming around from the northeast corner of the house and I couldn't figure out why.  There's no shelter there.  She doesn't always come from that corner but lately she does more often.  I mentioned this to Cheri and she solved the mystery in 2 words.  "Dryer vent."  Doh!  Of course!  The dryer vent is at that corner of the house and this time of year, that warm air blowing must feel pretty good.  John

Good catch!

Did you set up that heated house again? Perhaps it would so well by the dryer vent. :)

Oh yes, the house you sent is all set up, but it's in the lean-to, out of the weather.  I set it on a couple of 2 by 4s to keep it off the ground.  Still, that dryer vent must feel pretty nice as long as it's not raining,  It's also close to the door where I go out to feed her so she can be right there the minute I open the door.  John

Taylor has been acting a little different lately.  She still won't let me get more than a few feet away from her, even after over a year.  Now though, the weather has been unusually warm, and the nights have been very damp and foggy.  With the change in weather, Taylor has shown a sudden and unexpected curiosity.  She wants to see what's inside the house.  She won't quite come in with me standing in the doorway but she's never shown this level of curiosity before.

Cheri however, refuses to let another cat in the house.  I can't altogether blame her.  Before we got together I had 7 cats living in my house and was taking care of 15 ferals outside.  7 was the most the house could really handle, and I don't dare try to get that started here.  Still, I wonder just how much trouble I'd really get into if I got Taylor to come inside.  If Taylor's curiosity gets the better of her and she comes in, we'll just see.

Then of course, there's Van Gogh.  Van Gogh has been an only cat for 8 years now.  She's never had to contend with anything but the dog who spends 4 or 5 hours roaming the house a few days a week.  The rest of the time he's in the grandson's room.  Van Gogh does not like the dog.  They've never hurt each other but she's afraid of him.  How would she act with another cat in the house?

I'd dearly love to let Taylor in but between Cheri and Van Gogh, it could be a problem.  John

Hard to figure this. I sense a possible new cat in there this winter, but then again, the issues with Cheri and Van Gogh are hurtles that may not be so easily managed. ;)

Van Gogh is still an unknown factor.  She's not what you could call a very affectionate cat anyway, (except at night).  That's something that only an experiment can decide.

I can somewhat understand Cheri's reluctance.  She knew what I was doing when we met.  Before I had to move, I had 7 indoor cats and 15 ferals, and 7 indoor cats would be a lot for someone to put up with.  I was so fortunate to have somebody who loved my cats as much as I did, who would take on all of them when I had to move.  Cheri knows full well I'd probably fall right back into that situation.  To her, Taylor is a red flag, kind of like the first drink to an alcoholic.

Still, Taylor has been a loyal visitor for at least a year and 3 months, probably more.  To her, the one person who seems to care about her comes out that door.  All her food comes through that door.  Probably a little heat comes through that door.  What other wonderful things might be in there?  Will she find out?  I hope so, but we'll see.  John
