Message board topic:

A long haired, charcoal gray cat with a collar and a bell on it, has been showing up lately.  I try not to feed it, as I know it lives somewhere else and I don't need him settling in, but the granddaughter has gotten very close.  It's a very affectionate cat.  As she was loving on it one day and I was sitting in a chair nearby, the cat jumped up in my lap expecting loves.  The granddaughter has named her Billie, after a singer she likes, (Billie Eilish).

Last night, the grandson took his dog outside.  Shortly thereafter, the other grandson came in and asked why there was another cat in the house.  Of course, I had to get up and look.  When the grandson took his dog out, Billie sneaked in, and went straight for Van Gogh's food.  Van Gogh never saw her.  I had to take Van Gogh's food and lure Billie back outside.  Taylor, by contrast, has never set a paw inside.

With all the storms the last few days, (very rainy and electrical but none violent) the cats have mostly stayed undercover.  In 2 days, I only saw Taylor twice.  Worries me but she does eventually show up.  She got breakfast this morning.  John

Hmm. Sounds like Billie wants to be your cat!

Cats Nap. Only Humans Put Them "To Sleep": Sterilize, Don't Euthanize!

 

I'm sure Billie would be happy here.  Cheri, would not.  Her other humans would probably be worried to death, although that's a risk to take when you leave your cat outside.  I've learned my lesson though.  I could easily become a cat hoarder.  John

I found out a little more about Billie recently.  She's basically a neighborhood cat, rather than belonging to anyone in particular, despite the purple, belled collar she wears.  I think I need to take that off.  Her real name was Jennifer, but to us, I expect she'll always be known as Billie.  She's very affectionate, much more so than Taylor, and Karly took a strong likeing to her, effectively adopting Billie as her own.

I was reluctant to start feeding Billie, as I can't go back to taking care of all the neighborhood strays like I used to, but a couple of weeks ago, Billie came limping up with a sore paw and of course, I'm soft-hearted as a sponge, so now Billie gets about the same as Taylor.  Her paw is much better now, but now she hangs around here all the time, maybe more so than Taylor.  So basically, we're suddenly a 3 cat family now.  John

I wonder is someone moved and left Billie when they moved. I am glad she is taken care of by everyone.

It's possible someone abandoned her, but she seems to have decided that i take better care of her than anyone else.  Unlike Taylor, Billie is very affectionate.  She was definitely used to people.  John
